A rainy Sunday Today started off really sunny, but as soon as I got my washing out on the line it started raining... So, after grabbing it all back off the line and hanging it up in the laundry room I decided to bake
A good excuse to try out one of my old recipes in my new Bread Machine.
I've been against Bread Makers for so long and finally I've given in. Yesterday, I bought myself a Kenwood BM350.
Here's my first attempt at using it. I'm quite happy with the result. I followed a recipe that I found on a great blog "papilles et pupilles" (in French) Once I'd plugged in the machine, read the manual and measured the liquid, I realised that I didn't have any white flour left. aaaahhhhh That didn't stop me. I replaced the white flour with "farine bise". The english translation is greyish-brown flour. (as I've been living in France for the past 25 years, my English is getting a bit rusty and I'm not always capable of translating things correctly.... sorry)
Here's the recipe for those of you who aren't too good at French:
20cl warm milk 10cl warm water 50g soft butter 2cs honey 500g white flour 1.5 cc salt 1.5 cc dry yeast
I put all of the ingredients in the machine in this order. After about 5 minutes of kneading, I checked the consistency. As I was using the "bise" flour, my dough was a bit tough so I added extra water. The final result was quite good, although it lacks a bit of salt in my opinion. Better luck next time.
